1. Start looking early for your pet sitter.
  2. Schedule a meet and greet with the pet sitter and your dog.
  3. Notice how your dog and the pet sitter interact.
  4. Does your pet sitter have children or other pets your pet would be interacting with? Will your pet be okay with them?
  5. Does the pet sitter take time to ask questions about your pets daily routine, medical information, contact phone numbers?
  6.  Before you decide to hire a pet sitter, you may want to check references and also interview a couple of prospective pet sitters.
  7. Before your trip leave written instructions on feeding, emergency phone numbers and your veterinary contact information.
